Women with Skills:
Building Confidence, Trades and Community
Everyone can benefit from learning the trades. Our free, hands-on workshops are designed to help women across the St. Louis metro area gain core construction skills in a supportive, welcoming environment. No experience is required, just a desire to learn and connect.
Workshops are held on-site and open to any local woman who wants to build practical, in-demand skills, whether it’s for personal home projects, career exploration, or simply to grow comfortable with power tools.
What You’ll Gain
The program is guided by experienced instructors and mentors from the Youth Builders STL and Tiny Home Project team.
Core Skills
Each session covers practical construction topics – framing, drywall, electrical wiring, flooring and related trades
Supportive Community
Build friendships, a supportive network, and gain encouragement, one project at a time.
Opportunities to Grow
Take a new step and gain the confidence to tackle that next big project - yourself.
Why it Matters
Women are critically underrepresented in construction and skilled trades, yet their skills and perspectives are vital for helping our communities thrive. Our program:
Fosters Career Exploration
This program is a university of opportunity, opening doors for those curious about exploring construction as a profession or taking the next step in their career
Builds Self-Reliance
Workshops promote real-world confidence and independence. It’s not just learning, it’s believing, “I can do this.”
Creates Community
Connections made here last beyond the workshop.
